MONEY IN POLITICS

A whole lot of people want to get money out of politics. In Massachusetts lots of people are trying to amend the state constitution to do just that. Their organization is called Pass Mass Amendment (click here to learn more about it), their slogan is "Corporations are not people; Money is not speech" and they need volunteers to help collect signatures to get their question on the ballot. If these people succeed in getting what most of them really want--a complete end to the power of Big Money--it will be an egalitarian revolution, because egalitarianism is what society actually is when there is no longer class inequality, and class inequality is what Big Money's power over regular people is.

Whatever the Pass Mass Amendment effort does or does not accomplish, the fact that so many people are working for it shows how widespread is the desire for an egalitarian revolution.
