The BACC Leadership is Notoriously Anti-Democratic
Updated: Aug 25, 2019
The BACC (Brighton Allston Community Coalition) leadership explicitly admits that it prohibits (and blocks) any speech by BACC members on the organization's email group if it even hints to be about why the BACC should also be for removing the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor. The BACC leadership does this in spite of the fact that 1021 people (two-thirds of the BACC membership) signed a statement saying they wanted the BACC to declare its support for this larger goal. The BACC leadership is absolutely anti-democratic! Such anti-democratic leadership is exactly what the ruling class counts on to protect its great wealthy and privilege and power.
To read the BACC emails that confirm what I say here, go to https://www.pdrboston.org/dear-bacc-founders-steering-c-membe and read the part near the bottom with emails written after May 20, 2019.
When the Stop & Shop development ends up having far fewer affordable housing units than we want, and the same thing happens with future new developments, a big part of the reason will be the notoriously anti-democratic leaders of the BACC. Why? Because the only thing that will cause the Big Money people to build the affordable housing that we want is if they are afraid of what might happen if they don't. And the thing that will make them most afraid is a movement explicitly aiming to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor--the goal that the vast majority of people actually want. The BACC leaders say they want more affordable housing, but they are working hard to prevent us from actually winning that.
