Hi my 68 Brighton CVS-ville neighbors*,

As you may know there is a new game in town! Nine of us (at last count) are members of the new Brighton Assembly of Egalitarians (BAE) (read about it here), which aims to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor--by getting the ball rolling to build a movement large and determined enough to really accomplish that goal, as discussed here.

Please read the above linked article about the BAE and join it if you agree with its goal. To join, just send me an email saying you want to join, and then I will include you in the emails I send to BAE members; and attend BAE monthly meetings when you are able to do so. The next meeting of the BAE, which I hope you will attend, is Sunday, December 7, 1:30 PM at the Cafe Mirror (362 Washington St.)

We are planning to publicly display a ten-foot banner with these 500 photos of Brightonians saying they aim to do what the BAE aims to do and to get affordable housing for all. With more members we can do more things like this, more often, things to let people in Brighton know they are not alone in wanting to remove the rich from power, and to know in some detail what this might actually mean for people living in Brighton.

All the best,

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday.

Hi my 68 Brighton CVS-ville neighbors*,

As you may know, nine of us (at last count) are members of the newly formed Brighton Assembly of Egalitarians (BAE), which I invite you to read about here and to join. Since I hope you will be joining the BAE, I am sharing with you, here, what I propose the BAE do.

I propose that the BAE arm We the People with the confidence:

a) that We the People are right in aiming to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor because this is both morally right and perfectly possible and practical and desirable; and

b) that We the People are the VAST MAJORITY in having this aim; and

c) that our current rulers (the billionaires behind the scene) and their politicians and pundits and media are as morally wrong in defending the class inequality (some rich and some poor) status quo of our society as were those in the past who defended chattel slavery when that "peculiar" institution was the status quo.

To accomplish this, I propose that the BAE devote a substantial part of its meetings to a discussion about why, exactly, the above points are all true, in order for BAE members, themselves, to gain maximum confidence in these points.

I propose that the BAE figure out and implement ways to spread this confidence, that BAE members are developing, to the wider public, to We the People. The more we do this, the more We the People will be able to refute all of the arguments that our rulers use to make us accept, even if grudgingly, their imposition of class inequality on us in the form of things such as building luxury instead of affordable housing and making good health care unaffordable and on and on and on.

The BAE can thus arm We the People with the confidence, and with the vision of how our society OUGHT to be, that will make it possible for We the People one day actually to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor.

I believe that if this is what we do at BAE meetings, then more and more people will want to join the BAE and attend them.

All the best,

Hi my 72 Brighton CVS-ville neighbors*,

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Here's something fun to read while the turkey is roasting:

Every T-Day for the last few years I re-post my (free to read online) Substack post with this title: "The Truth about the Mayflower Colonists that Pro-Capitalist Propagandist Jeff Jacoby Must Hide: Thanksgiving Day is a perfect time to debunk the anti-egalitarian lies about the Plymouth Colony. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!"

As you probably know, the Boston Globe is owned by the billionaire, John Henry, who also owns the Boston Red Sox.

Mr. Henry uses the Boston Globe to make its readers feel hopeless about the possibility of removing the rich from power and also to make its readers believe that there is no better alternative to our capitalist system of some rich and some poor. The Globe's columnist, Jeff Jacoby, specializes in the latter propaganda theme. The other columnists focus on the former propaganda theme.

Curiously, John Henry's anti-egalitarian propaganda does NOT require bad-mouthing the rich, and even requires doing that on occasion in order to maintain its credibility with its readers, as my other Substack post recently discussed in connection with another long-time Globe colunmist, Alex Beam. It is, titled, "Here's Evidence that the Rich Don't Mind if We Hate Them, As Long As They Are Able to Divide-and-Rule Us with Lies Nobody Refutes I submit to you the billionaire, John Henry, paying his newspaper's top columnist to express hatred of the rich."

Enjoy the turkey!

All the best,

December 1, 2025

Hi my 74 Brighton CVS-ville neighbors*,

The next Brighton Assembly of Egalitarians (BAE) meeting is this Sunday, 1:30 PM at the Cafe Mirror (362 Washington St. Brighton Center.) If you haven't already decided to join the BAE I encourage you to read about it here, and read one or more of the articles linked to there that will help you decide. The first of these four articles is "My proposal for the BAE to do".

At an earlier BAE meeting we decided to display the banner with 500 photos of Brightonians, each holding a sign saying, "We the People want affordable housing for ALL. To get it we aim to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor." You can see a photo of this banner being displayed at the Faneuil Branch library (Oak Square) in 2019; the photo is near the bottom of the home page of my website here.

Today, after stickering for an hour at the CVS (and signing up two new people to receive these emails, who said they would join the BAE) I went to the Faneuil Branch library to speak with the librarian, named Amy, about displaying the banner more permanently at the library. Amy loved the banner, took a photo of it to show to her boss, and told me she'd ask her boss for permission to display the banner at the library. (But she didn't think permission would be given.)

Amy also said she'd send me the name and contact info for the person in charge of the little Oak Square park so I could ask for the banner to be displayed there. (I'm not sure displaying it outside will work because it would be vulnerable to vandalism, but we shall see.) I think it would be wonderful to have this banner displayed in many places in Brighton. I also went to the PSF Community Center in Oak Square to see if I could find somebody there to ask about displaying the banner there, but I couldn't find a single person in the building to ask.

If any of you have an idea where we could display the banner, please let me know.

In anticipation of finding places to display the banner, I went to Flash Printing at Harvard Square and provided them a PDF file to make another banner, which will be ready by Wednesday for a cost of (as I recall) $270. If you feel like chipping in to help pay for this, please be my guest by making a donation the way it says how at the very bottom of every page of my website.

All the best,

--John
